The Wreakies were on tour this weekend with various marathons and half marathons undertaken, well done to everyone for training hard and achieving some super times (and hopefully enjoying the event & run!).
For David Jackson, not many may have realised he was training for a marathon (!), fortunately his toe hung on long enough for him to complete his first marathon in Manchester with a super fast time. – well done DJ! New Wreakie Mukesh Manani travelled to Paris for the superb Paris marathon, the route passes many amazing sights, well done it must have been tough on a warm spring day.
There were three local half marathons on the same day. Four Wreakies completed the long established Belvoir Half Marathon, and two bagged a PB (Matt Franklin & John White), well done also to Gavin Speed & Nathan Smith. A new half marathon took place at Rutland Water (‘The Rutland Spring Half Marathon’). This involved starting from the north shore and running a loop of the peninsula. Well done to Gavin Poynton, Karen Holt, Ashley Holt, and Emma Lilley (great effort on her first half). Finally, Paul Wright flew the solo Wreake flag at Loughborough Half Marathon. Well done to Paul for completing the ‘toughest half marathon in the county’ – that off-road section looks pretty muddy!

Some Wreakies have more spring marathons coming up soon, good luck to those running Brighton & London!
