December Club Nights 2024
December 2024 has arrived at last, and I am sure that many of you are looking forward to some downtime and eating lots of treats! The holiday season comes with some well earned breaks, but the running continues! We have so much to look forward to in December with Christmas lights runs, the muddy fun of the Gaddesby Gallop and the famous not to be missed – Jellyman Bacon Butty run/walk! Keep your eye on the forum for details about the annual Leicester Runners town hall Christmas lights photo, which will have a photographer who lacks my finesse and style! Despite any wintery weather we will continue to have fun running about the streets of our community, but remember to wear appropriate clothing including being visible on the dark nights.
**Please note** – Due to club nights occurring on festive dates, the end of the month has no scheduled club nights! However, please feel free to use the forum to arrange running with others! Wreake traditionally goes up to Bradgate Park between Christmas and New Year for a running and cake social. I will be looking to run on possibly on Sunday December 29th – perhaps a big Early Bird run with Jellyman and the motley crew! In addition, our President Dave Palmer, usually organises a Christmas Eve walk – so keep your eyes on the forum for his posts!
December is also a time that we reflect as runners both individually and as a club. How has 2024 been for you? Have you achieved a goal? Maybe just getting out and putting one foot in front of the other has been something to be proud of! It isn’t easy to balance all our commitments, and often we put ourselves at the bottom of the list. Many of us have had difficult personal issues to deal with, and running is that space that allows your mind to try and make sense of it all. Just you and the road/trail, and nothing else! So, as we draw 2024 to a close, reflect on how wonderful you are! Remember that your Wreake Family is always there for you – to run with, cry with, laugh with and eat cake with! Well done to everyone, and here’s to an even better 2025, being part of the best running club around!
To finish off for those at the AGM last week, you will have heard the Wreake Warrior cry to show up and run the Derby XCountry League Races! DRXCL – Leicester. We have over 130 members and it should be easy to field at least 8 men and 4 women for just 6 races in 5 months. Ravenstone has been rescheduled to December 8th! SO NO EXCUSES! A MORNING WITH YOUR WREAKE FAMILY WITH A LITTLE RUN AND CAKE AND HOT DRINK, WHAT COULD BE BETTER! You don’t have to be fast, in fact I have finished last a few times, and I still counted! WE NEED TEAMS TO SCORE POINTS! So….COME ON DOWN WE NEED YOU!!!!!!

Leave from the public car park in East Goscote next to the Pub, where you will explore the streets all a glo with Xmas cheer.
